Course Description
This e-course discusses the mobility dimensions of crises, which arise when people move, or require support to move, due to a conflict, armed violence, disaster or health epidemic. What are the key concepts and priorities of the mobility dimensions of crises? Who are the populations and communities affected? Who bears the primary responsibility to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of crisis-affected persons?

This e-course outlines the importance of addressing mobility dimensions at different phases of crises—before, during and after—while understanding that these are not always straightforward.
It first considers planning in advance of a crisis, understanding that mobility can be necessary and lifesaving in anticipation of a crisis. Then it looks at humanitarian protection and assistance during a crisis, ensuring that periods of displacement are as safe, dignified and humane as possible. Finally, the module considers the recovery phase of a crisis, all mobile groups and their mobility patterns as factors towards long-term solutions.

This e-course is designed for stakeholders interested in strengthening their capacity to address the mobility dimensions of crises: government officials with migration-related policy functions; IOM/UN staff; other migration stakeholders such as members of the civil society and diaspora organizations; academics, policy scholars, students and other individuals from teaching/research institutions.
