Course Description
Health is a central topic in migration management. As the right to health is a fundamental human right for all, States have obligations towards ensuring the health of migrants, irrespective of status. Health is also a precondition for migrants to contribute productively for the societies they live in. Risks to migrants’ health can ultimately impact the communities receiving them. Health is then a cross-cutting topic that impacts other areas of migration management, such as labour, border management or integration and social cohesion.
What does “migration health” encompass? What are the factors that impact it? What are the international legal frameworks regulating States’ responsibilities towards ensuring migration health?
Find answers to these questions and more in the EMM2.0 e-course on Health and migration. This self-paced e-learning module explores the meaning of migration health and discusses measures to manage it. It outlines measures for the various phases of the migration process and overarching approaches, such as the development migration-sensitive and migration-inclusive health systems as well as of a cross-sectoral national migration health plan.
