Thanks to funding support from IOM Regional Office in Cairo, the Essentials of Migration Management (EMM2.0) face-to-face modules are now available in Arabic, including: Global context of international migration; Migration management and the policy cycle; International migration law and human rights of migrants; Trafficking in persons and associated forms of exploitation and abuse; Migration and development; Health and migration; Facilitating pre-arrival, passport and visa management; Regulating migration and border management; Smuggling of migrants.
Having EMM2.0 in-person training modules available in Arabic can reach a broader and more diverse audience. This inclusivity ensures that Arabic-speaking learners have access to valuable information and training. At the same time, IOM can disseminate its long-standing knowledge on migration management to a larger audience in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, increasing visibility and reducing language-based barriers to accessing learning.
The availability of EMM2.0 in-person training modules in Arabic is timely given that a regional training-of-trainers (ToT) was recently held in Tunis, Tunisia from 21 to 23 June. The event was attended by IOM staff members representing the country offices in Algeria, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia. As a result, a cohort of trainers in the MENA region is established to cascade and roll out the EMM2.0 curriculum at the country level for government counterparts.
In this sense, language diversity in training materials facilitates the transfer of knowledge and supports educational and professional development worldwide. It allows insights and discoveries to transcend language barriers, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and expertise.
