Mode of TrainingSelf-Paced & Facilitated Learning
×- A combination of Online and Face to face training
- Trainers can schedule webinars, communicate in discussion forums and post assignments online.
This blended training strives to provide foundational knowledge and skills to reinforce and solidify Guyana's migration management system, including its national migration policy.
The training complements other activities in the region working towards mainstreaming migration through the development of coherent, comprehensive and evidence-based policies.
Adapted for online delivery format, the training was implemented with IOM Guyana and Regional Coordination Office for the Caribbean, as part of Western Hemisphere (WHP) capacity development activities, generously funded by the US Department of State Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration.
Participants in each country represent a wide range of government agencies, from ministries/departments of immigration, emergency management, labour, diaspora, health, interior, foreign affairs, planning, and other institutions dealing with migration-related issues.
The expected outcomes of the training are for participants to:
- Gain a common and comprehensive grasp of migration governance, migration management and the interlinkages between different areas of migration
- Become aware of how to use data and research for evidence-based policymaking in migration
- Feel empowered to take action to improve their own migration policies
- Recognize migration as both a benefit and a challenge that can be managed
- Value and promote collaboration within government (inter-ministry, agency, and so on), with other governments (at regional and global levels) and beyond government (private sector, civil society, international organizations and others).
