In 2022, the IOM Development Fund (IDF) approved the project titled "Technical assistance for the development of a national migration policy in Eswatini." In this context, a 5-day training on the Essentials of Migration Management (EMM2.0) was held for Eswatini policymakers who are responsible for formulating laws, implementing legislative instruments and ensuring accountability of the executive arm of the government. The overall goal of the training is to equip government officials with the necessary skills and knowledge in migration management to be able to draft Eswatini migration policy, hence progressing towards GCM objectives (particularly Objective 1) and the Sustainable Development Goals (particularly Target 10.7).
Twenty five government officials with migration-related policy function from various Ministries, including: the Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Tourism and Environment; Deputy Prime MInister Office; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Health; His Majesty Correctional Services; Ministry of Labour; Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force; Royal Eswatini Police Service; Ministry of Tinkhundla & Administration; Coordinating Assembly of NGOs and Business Eswatini.

- Understand how to develop and strengthen migration policies by following the steps in the policymaking cycle.
- Feel empowered to take action to improve their own migration policies.
- Recognize migration as both a benefit and a challenge that can be managed.
- Promote collaboration within government (inter-ministry, agency, etc.), with other governments (at regional and global levels) and beyond government with the private sector, civil society, and international organizations.
